The Keiser Athletic Department announced this week's Seahawks Athletes of the Week on Tuesday. This week's winners, Shaheed Alam and Alexandra Melnikova, were recognized for their standout performances during the week of April 5th.

Shaheed Alam, Fourth Year, Singapore

• Helped lead Keiser to a 4-1 road victory over No. 4 Saint Leo University
• Earned a dominant No. 2 singles win over No. 17 Dylan Andrianaly (6-2, 6-1)
• Controlled the match with a straight-set victory against a top-20 opponent
• Secured a 6-2 doubles win at No. 3 with partner Heber Santos
• Contributed points in both singles and doubles in the team win
• Improved to 11-1 overall on the season
• Continues to be a key contributor in the top half of the lineup

 

Alexandra Melnikova, Fourth Year, Prague, Czech Republic

• Went 2-0 on the week, competing at both No. 1 and No. 2 singles
• Secured a clutch three-set victory at No. 1 singles vs. No. 1 Barry University (6-3, 4-6, 6-1)
• Helped clinch a 4-2 team win over the top-ranked Division II program
• Followed with a dominant No. 2 singles win vs. No. 47 Saint Leo University (6-1, 6-0)
• Defeated a nationally ranked opponent in straight sets in the Saint Leo match
• Contributed to a 4-0 sweep over Saint Leo
• Went 1-1 in doubles at No. 3, including a 6-4 win vs. Saint Leo
• Improved to 14-1 overall on the season

 
Both Alam and Melnikova will now be in the running for the Keiser Athlete of the Month (March) award in April.
