The Keiser Athletic Department announced this week's Seahawks Athletes of the Week on Monday. This week's winners, senior running back
Dillon Simon and senior forward
Lauren Riley, were recognized for their performances during the week of Oct. 5.
Dillon Simon, Fourth Year, RB, Lake Charles, Florida
- The award marks the first weekly award of the season for Simon and the first of his career
- Rushed for a career-high 152 yards on just seven carries, scoring twice in Keiser's win over Thomas (Ga.), 49-3
- His performance included an 85-yard touchdown run - the second-longest in program history - as part of a record-setting day for the Seahawks' ground game
- Averaging 21.7 yards per carry, Simon helped the Seahawks produce a program-best 398 yards on the ground to go along with the school record for total offense (692 yards)
- He also scored on a 13-yard touchdown run to give Keiser a 21-0 lead in the first
- He is third in the conference in rushing yards per game and leads the league in yards per rush
- On the year, Simon has rushed for 232 yards on 15 carries with three touchdowns, averaging 15.5 yards per carry and over 77 yards per contest
Lauren Riley, Fourth Year, F, Staffordshire, England
- Named this week's Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week
- Tallied two goals against New College of Florida on Wednesday
- It was the eighth multi-goal performance of her career
- She is now up to six goals on the season which trails the team lead by one
- On the year, Riley has registered 18 points (6g, 6a) with three game-winning goals
Both Riley and Simon will now be in the running for the Keiser Athlete of the Month (October) award in November.
