The Keiser Athletic Department announced this week's Seahawks Athletes of the Week on Monday. This week's winners, senior runner
Gorata Gabankitse and senior defender
Georgia Little, were recognized for their performances during the week of Sept. 7.
Gorata Gabankitse, Fourth Year, Gaborone, Botswana
- Gabankitse set a new personal-best 5k, 16:22.3
- Shaved 27.9 seconds off his previous top mark, 16:50.2
- Led Seahawks with an 11th place finish in Keiser University Invitational
- Led Men's team to 5th place finish at KUI
- Top 20 finishes at last year's Sun Conference Championship meet
Georgia Little, Fourth Year, D, Newcastle, NSW, Australia
- Led Keiser to a 3-0 start as with a pair of shutout victories this past week
- Anchored a Keiser defense that held No. 2 William Carey scoreless, 2-0
- Two days later, Little and the Seahawks blanked the No. 10-ranked Tennessee Southern Firehawks, 3-0
- Little scored two goals and had one assists versus the Firehawks
- On the year, Little has posted two goals and two assists for six points
- She has only taken four shots on the year with two on net
- She is tied for second on the team with four total points
Both Little and Gabankitse will now be in the running for the Keiser Athlete of the Month (September) award in October.
