The Keiser Athletic Department announced this week's Seahawks Athletes of the Week on Tuesday. This week's winners, Natalia Janiszewska and Jordan Sommers, were recognized for their standout performances during the week of Jan 25th.

 
Natalia Janiszewska, First Year, Back, ​Wroclaw, Poland

• Recorded a three-event winning performance in Keiser's 159–49 victory over Barry University at the Lake Lytal Aquatic Center
• Swam the opening leg of the winning 200 medley relay, helping the Seahawks touch first in 1:43.45 alongside Kate Vorontsova, Luiza Bersi, and Alanis Santiago
• Captured first place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.37
• Earned another individual victory in the 100 butterfly, winning the event in 56.32
• Contributed significantly to Keiser's sweep of both relays and nine total individual wins in the meet

 

Jordan Sommers, Third Year, 285 lbs., Waterloo, Ill. ​

• Finished 5th place at the Missouri Valley Invitational, the largest NAIA tournament of the season
• Entered the tournament unranked and unseeded, outperforming expectations in a loaded heavyweight bracket
• Earned three nationally ranked wins, defeating #6 Nicolas Rodriguez (Eastern Oregon), #25 Caleb Pruitt (Reinhardt), and #14 Shane Mattson (Montana State–Northern)
• Advanced to the semifinals, securing a spot among the top contenders at heavyweight
• Only losses came to the eventual 1st- and 3rd-place finishers
• Helped Keiser post its highest team finish and point total in program history at the Missouri Valley Invitational

Both Janiszewska and Sommers will now be in the running for the Keiser Athlete of the Month (January) award in Febuary.
