Burgess and Henriksson Named This Week's Seahawks HSS Athletes of the Week

The Keiser Athletic Department announced this week's Seahawks HSS Athletes of the Week on Monday. This week's winners, senior running back Marques Burgess and junior defender Maja Henriksson, were recognized for their play during the week of October 23.

  • Named this week's Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week (his seventh weekly award).
  • The weekly award marks the first of the season and seventh weekly honor of Burgess' career (first in the Sun Conference).
  • Marquess Burgess registered his third 100-yard rushing game and the 19th of his career, recording 191 yards on 35 carries versus the Southeastern Fire on Saturday.
  • Averaging 5.5 yards per carry, Burgess led the Seahawks to a 40-14 win over the Fire, notching the 51st and 52nd rushing touchdown of his career.
  • The 191 yards were second-most Burgess had recorded in a game and the fourth-most by a Seahawk in program history. He punished the Fire defense, taking on tacklers to increase his season rushing total to 870 yards.
  • His play helped lead the Seahawks to the most-lopsided victory in the series history with the Fire. 
  • On the year, Burgess has tallied nine rushing touchdowns while averaging 108.75 years per game.
  • His 191 yards increased his career rushing total to 4,525 yards, passing Dalvin Cook (Florida State - 4,464) for the most career rushing yards by a running back from a collegiate team from the state of Florida.

  • Named this week's Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week - the fifth weekly award of her career.
  • Against Thomas, she scored the game-winning goal off a corner kick in the 78th minute of the game.
  • It would be her first of two game-winners as against she would score two goals against the No. 10 Fire to keep the Seahawks undefeated.
  • With the three goals this week, she surpassed 100 career points with the Seahawks.
 

Both Burgess and Henriksson will now be in the running for the Keiser Athlete of the Month (October) awarded in early November which will be featured on ESPN West Palm (106.3 FM).
