The Keiser Athletic Department announced its Seahawks Athletes of the Week on Monday. This week's winners, sophomore quarterback
Shea Spencer and senior midfielder
Kyoka Koshijima, were recognized for their play during the week of August 28.
Shea Spencer, So., QB, Vero Beach, Fla.
- Named this week's Sun Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week.
- Guided the Seahawks to a 44-7 win over Warner of Saturday, August 27.
- The native of Vero Beach, Florida, became just the second player in KU history to throw for over 300 yards, completing 22-of-28 passes versus the Royals.
- Spencer had touchdown passes of 34 yards, four yards, and 26 yards to open the season.
- Spencer's 323 yards passing was a huge part of KU's 538 yards of total offense (fourth-most in program history).
- After week one, Spencer ranks first in the SUN in passing yards (No. 5 in the NAIA), completion percentage (No. 3 in the NAIA), and passing touchdowns (No. 6 in the NAIA).
Kyoka Koshijima, Sr., MF, Kanazawa City, Japan
- Named this week's Sun Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
- Led the Seahawks to a 2-0-0 record this past week.
- The senior scored her first career hat trick along with an assist against Viterbo in a 4-0 win on Tuesday.
- She then followed that performance with her first career three assist game in a 6-0 win against The Master's on Saturday.
- Kiki finished the week with three goals and four assists for 10 points.
- She currently ranks No. 2 in the nation is total assists this season (5) and is No. 4 in the NAIA in total points (11).
Both Spencer and Koshijima will now be in the running for the Keiser Athlete of the Month (September) awarded in early October which will be featured on ESPN West Palm (106.3 FM).
