The Keiser Athletic Department announced its Seahawks Athletes of the Week on Monday. This week's winners, freshman midfielder
Gabi Villafane and junior middle blocker
Cassie Cox, were recognized for their play during the week of September 18.
Gabi Villafane, Fr., MF, Barinas, Venezuela
- Recorded one goal and two assists (four points) in the Seahawk's 6-0 win over Florida College.
- Notched the game-winner with a score in the 32nd minute.
- The goal was the first of his Seahawk career.
- Added two assists in the game, setting up scores in the 43rd minute and 50th minute.
- Has posted one goal and three assists for five points this season.
- On the year, has notched five shots with one on net in three games played.
Cassie Cox, Jr., MB, Round Rock, Texas
- Helped Keiser opened Sun Conference action with two victories.
- The Seahawks improved to 21-3 on the year.
- Hit .308 with six kills and three block assists in a 3-0 win over Florida Memorial on Wednesday.
- Produced a season-high 19 kills at Southeastern on Saturday (3-1 KU victory).
- Averaged 4.75 kills per set versus the Fire while hitting .529.
- Hitting .318 on the year (No. 4 in the Sun Conference) with 213 kills (No. 1 in the Sun Conference).
- Cox ranks No. 27 in hitting percentage in the nation.
Both Villafane and Cox will now be in the running for the Keiser Athlete of the Month (September) awarded in early October which will be featured on ESPN West Palm (106.3 FM).
