WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Northwood University volleyball team had a strong finish to the match as they went on the road and defeated Florida Memorial in four sets(25-22, 18-25, 25-19, 25-17) in a Sun Conference matchup on Friday.
In a back-and-forth first set, the Seahawks and Lions were tied at 22-22. The Seahawks were able to win three conseuctive points to close match and took advantage of errors committed by the Lions.
The two teams were tied 7-7 in the second set before the Lions pulled away with seven consecutive points. The Seahawks rallied and eventually cut the deficit to 18-15, but the Lions held them off to close the set.
The Seahawks bounced back in the third set with the match hanging in the balance. In a 16-16 tie, Gida Victor's kill gave the Seahawks the lead and they would register five straight points to take a commanding lead and take the third set.
In the fourth set, the Seahawks held a 13-10 lead before extending the lead by a large margin with six consecutive points. Ti'Ana Fox had a service to close the match as the Seahawks were able to snap a losing streak of four straight matches.
"We were able to ground it out and found a way to win," Seahawks volleyball head coach Chris Taylor said. "Florida Memorial came out and played well and their defense was digging a lot of our attacks. The team stayed with it and picked up a key road conference win."
The Seahawks registered 38 kills and had 21 errors while adding 34 assists on offense.
Jessy Touron led the Seahawks with eight kills while Victor registeed seven.

Veera Hietala also had seven kills and added 14 kills and Sydney Fish contributed with six kills.
Ti'Ana Fox had 24 digs and Nicole Papineau tallied a team-high 24 assists.
The Seahawks improved to 9-8 overall and 3-3 in the Sun conference. The Lions dropped to 0-10 and 0-6 in conference play.
The Seahawks return to action on Saturday, September 27 as they visit Sun Conference opponent St. Thomas(Fla.) at 12 p.m.
