Wood Sets School Record, Songo Wins 5K at Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic

Keiser men's indoor track & field turned in a strong performance at the Visit Gainesville Indoor Classic on Friday, highlighted by two school records, a B standard, and a victory on the track.

Jesse Songo led the Seahawks with a first-place finish in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 14:55.32. In the sprints, Dallas Desouza placed seventh in the 400 meters, running 49.11, while Keiser also saw multiple competitors across the 200 and 400-meter events.

In the field events, Casey Wood delivered a standout performance in the shot put, finishing second overall with a throw of 16.27 meters, setting a new Keiser school record and achieving the NAIA B standard. Christian Nicolas added a seventh-place finish in the shot put (13.95m). Wood also competed in the weight throw, along with Nicolas and Landon Campbell, as the Seahawks gained valuable experience in the event.

The jumpers produced strong results as well, led by Braylen Jones, who placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.50 meters, a performance that met the NAIA B standard.. Charlem Diable followed closely in sixth place (14.32m). In the long jump, Hugo Biget and Arthur Dupuy each recorded fourth- and fifth-place finishes, both jumping 6.81 meters.

On the track, Alex Cruz finished eighth in the 60-meter dash (6.97), while Adrian Rivadulla placed eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.13. Keiser also competed in the distance medley relay, earning a fifth-place finish in 10:25.65.
