The Keiser Athletic Department announced this week's Seahawks Players of the Week on Monday. This week's winners, Joshua McDowell and Ida Palm, were recognized for their standout performances during the week of October 4th.
Joshua McDowell, Second Year, Linebacker, Naranja, Fla.
- Helped lead the Seahawks defense to the program's eighth shutout of the season, an 80-0 win over Thomas (Ga.)
- Recorded four tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble despite playing just half the game
- Helped hold the Night Hawks to just 57 yards of total offense, the lowest mark allowed in program history
- His first interception set up Keiser's fourth touchdown early in the second quarter
- Returned his second interception for a touchdown, the Seahawks' 10th score of the game, setting a new school record for points in a game (previously 69, at Warner on Oct. 14, 2023)
- Has recorded 15 total tackles on the season, including 2.0 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions and a forced fumble
Ida Palm, Third Year, Defender, Stockholm, Sweden
- Anchored a Keiser defense that held New College of Florida, the conference's highest-scoring offense, scoreless and without a single shot in a 7-0 win
- Scored her first goal of the season in the victory
- Totaled two points on two shots, connecting on both attempts for a perfect shots-on-goal percentage
- Helped the Seahawks post the clean sheet while contributing offensively from the back line
Both McDowell and Palm will now be in the running for the Keiser Athlete of the Month (October) award in November.
