The Keiser Athletic Department announced this week's Seahawks Players of the Week on Monday. This week's winners, Avril Amil Ruiz and Timo Boomkens, were recognized for their standout performances during the week of September 20th.

Timo Boomkens, Fourth Year, Defender, Valkenswaard, Netherlands

• Anchored a Keiser back line that allowed just one goal across a two-game stretch
• Helped the Seahawks close out wins over Florida Memorial (4-1) and Florida College (7-0)
• His steady presence on defense limited opponents to a combined 24 shots over the two matches
• Started both matches, helping Keiser outscore opponents 11-1 on the week

 

Avril Amil Ruiz, Third Year, Defender, Valencia, Spain

• Guided the No. 1-ranked Seahawks to a 1-0-1 record on the week, tying St. Thomas 1-1 before a 7-1 rout of No. 13 Southeastern
• Recorded the first hat trick of her collegiate career in the win over Southeastern, scoring three goals including the eventual game-winner
• Her outburst helped Keiser to its most lopsided win in the series since 2013 and snapped a two-game skid against the Fire
• Also picked up the first assist of her Keiser career in the draw with St. Thomas earlier in the week
• Totaled three goals, one assist and seven points on the week, going 4-for-4 on shots on goal
• Leads the Seahawks on the season with five goals and 11 points

 
Both Boomkens and Amil Ruiz will now be in the running for the Keiser Athlete of the Month (September) award in October.
