The Keiser wrestling team opened their 2021-2022 season on Saturday at the GrandView Open in Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
- Tomas Pacheco and Riley Stevens both picked up two wins in their debut tournament.
- The Seahawks went 3-4 in the 141 bracket with Bryce Gonzalez earning a fall and majority decision win, and James Donovan Berline taking an 8-4 decision in the second consolation round.
- Blaine Buchanan led the team in points with a fall in the second championship round and a decision win in the fourth consolation round
Head Coach
Nick Soto said, "We saw some glimpses of greatness out of the guys this weekend, however, I feel that we still haven't reached our potential. We have to be ready for a 7-10 minute fight in every match and today, we let a precious win or loss affect our next performance. We'll get back to work this week and prepare for the Life Open next week. Overall, I have a strong belief in this group going forward."
