Record-Setting Throw by Pugnetti Leads Men's Track and Field to Third-Place Finish at SUN

LAKELAND, Fla. — The Keiser men's outdoor track and field team delivered a strong all-around performance to finish third at the Sun Conference Championship in Lakeland, totaling 119.5 points across the two-day meet. Athletes who placed in the top three in their respective events earned All-Conference honors, highlighting a successful weekend for the Seahawks.

The Seahawks were fueled by standout efforts across distance, sprints, relays, and field events, producing multiple podium finishes. Jesse Songo led the way on the track, earning All-Conference honors with a conference title in the 5,000m (15:38.35) and a runner-up finish in the 1,500m (3:55.66). Adrian Rivadulla also secured All-Conference recognition after winning the 800m (1:56.53), adding to his B standard and facility record performance (1:51.67) earlier in the meet. Dallas Desouza contributed an All-Conference finish of his own, placing second in the 400m (47.43), while Alex Cruz added a third-place finish in the 100m (10.83) to earn All-Conference honors.

The relay squad of Songo, Desouza, Francesco De Nicola, and Rivadulla earned All-Conference distinction with a second-place finish in the 4x800 relay (7:52.87), while the 4x400 relay added a fourth-place finish to round out the scoring.

In the field events, Claudio Pugnetti delivered one of the top performances of the meet, winning the javelin with a school-record throw of 65.18m. The mark also set a facility record and met the NAIA A standard, earning him All-Conference honors. Christian Nicolas added another conference title and All-Conference performance in the shot put (15.94m), while Arthur Dupuy secured All-Conference recognition with a runner-up finish in the javelin and a second-place showing in the decathlon (5,056 points).

Additional scoring efforts came from the jumps and throws groups, contributing to a balanced team performance that secured a podium finish.
