No. 14 Softball Takes Momentum into Sun Conference Opening Series

AVE MARIA, Fla. – The Keiser University softball team opens Sun Conference play this weekend with a three-game road series against Ave Maria University in Ave Maria, Florida.

The Seahawks and Gyrenes will begin the series Friday, March 13, with a doubleheader scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., before concluding the series with a single game Saturday at noon.

Keiser enters conference play riding significant momentum, currently holding a 22-2 record and an 11-game winning streak after a dominant 8-0 showing at the Space Coast Spring Games in Viera. The Seahawks will look to carry that momentum into conference competition as they begin their push toward another Sun Conference title.

Historically, Keiser has found success against Ave Maria, owning a 27-21 advantage in the all-time series. The Seahawks have won six consecutive matchups against the Gyrenes and swept last time they played each other in a three-game series on March 23–24, 2024 with victories of 5-2, 6-5, and 6-2.

Offensively, the Seahawks have been powered by a balanced lineup that currently features eight players batting above .300. Faith Campos leads the team with a .360 average while also providing a dynamic presence on the basepaths with 20 stolen bases. Kaci Kidd continues to be a major run producer, batting .354 while ranking among the NAIA leaders with 11 doubles.

Genesis Iglesias has delivered the biggest power numbers in the lineup, leading the team with five home runs and 23 RBI while posting a 1.104 OPS. The junior infielder also leads the Sun Conference in walks and ranks among the national leaders with 18 free passes.

In the circle, the Seahawks feature one of the deepest pitching staffs in the conference. Mackenzie Masternak leads the NAIA in wins with a 12-1 record and ranks among the national leaders in innings pitched. Maggie Miller has been dominant when called upon, posting a 1.54 ERA with multiple complete-game efforts, while Olivia Salerno carries a stellar 0.89 ERA into the weekend.

As a staff, Keiser owns a 2.09 ERA and has limited opponents to a .222 batting average this season.

With a strong offensive attack, a deep pitching rotation, and momentum from an impressive non-conference slate, the Seahawks will aim to continue their winning ways as conference play begins.
