Keiser Director of Athletics Kris Swogger announced on Thursday that James Rogers has stepped down as head coach of the Keiser volleyball program.
"I'm grateful for my time Keiser and the opportunity to coach so many outstanding young women," Rogers said. "I especially appreciate the efforts of my staff with their help in turning this program around."
Rogers wrapped up his seventh season as Keiser's head coach, and posted a 28-8 (9-5 TSC) record in his final season. During his tenure, Coach Rogers led Keiser to the programs first NAIA National Tournament appearance (2020), captured the program's first TSC Tournament Championship (2020), led the Seahawks to back-to-back TSC Regular season championships in 2019 and 2020, and was named the Sun Conference Coach of the Year in 2019 and 2020. Since Rogers took the helm he also guided three different Seahawks to TSC Player of the Year awards (Abbie Seward,
Brooklynn Slater,
Mackenzie Pryor) and two players to Setter of the Year honors (Brooklyn VandeHei and
Hannah Heide). Academically, his teams were always meeting and exceeding the 3.0 department GPA goal, and the team had over 30 Academic All-Conference award winners. Coach Rogers departs the Seahawks as winningest Head Coach in program history, with an overall record of 190-77.
"I want to thank James for his time at Keiser University, and for all that he was able to accomplish leading the Seahawks," Swogger said. "When Coach Rogers was hired his goal was to take the program to new heights, and I am proud to say that he accomplished those goals. James helped to put Keiser Volleyball on the map, and along the way set many records that others will aspire to achieve. I wish him luck in his next role, and I look forward to our next Head Coach building on the foundation that Coach Rogers was able to build during his tenure at Keiser University."
A national search for Keiser's new head coach will begin immediately.
