Volleyball's Comeback Bid Falls Short in Sun Conference Tournament Semifinals

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Keiser volleyball's season came to an end Thursday evening as they fell to top-seeded No. 13 St. Thomas 3-1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-15, 27-25) in a hard-fought Sun Conference Tournament semifinal match. Despite pushing the Bobcats to the brink in a dramatic fourth set, the Seahawks couldn't overcome a hot-hitting St. Thomas squad that finished with a .363 attack percentage compared to Keiser's .153. The loss ends a competitive season for the Seahawks, who showed resilience throughout but ultimately fell short against the tournament's top seed.

After dropping the opening set 25-14, Keiser roared back in spectacular fashion. Makenzi Bennett delivered when it mattered most, unleashing four service aces during a stunning late-set run that erased a 23-20 deficit. The Seahawks reeled off five straight points to steal the set 25-23 and even the match. Bennett finished with 11 kills and five service aces, leading Keiser's offensive attack with 16.5 points. Cece Worsham contributed 14 kills on 49 swings while adding six digs, and Aubree Valcourt was efficient at the net with nine kills on a .294 hitting percentage while anchoring the block with five total blocks. Mallory Dills orchestrated the Seahawks' offense with 34 assists while adding four digs in the setback.

The fourth set featured 10 ties and six lead changes, epitomizing the competitive nature of the match. Keiser battled back from an 18-13 deficit, with Faith Marquis keying a crucial run with multiple saves from her knees. The Seahawks pulled even at 23-23, but St. Thomas closed out the match on a 4-2 run, with Raya Mlyakova delivering the final match point.
