The Keiser Athletic Department announced this week's Seahawks HSS Athletes of the Week on Monday. This week's winners, senior
Soufiane El Mesbahi and sophomore
Violet Apisah were recognized for their performances during the week of September 17.
Soufiane El Mesbahi, Fourth Year, Tangier, Morocco
- Claimed both the singles and doubles titles at this year's ITA Regionals.
- Became the first player since 2017 to claim a share of the doubles title while also winning the singles title.
- El Mesbahi was also dominant in singles from start to finish, ending each of his matches in straight sets.
- In doubles, he and Shaheed Alam cruised through the opening rounds of the tournament.
- In the final, they defeated the top-seeded duo of Didrik Liljekvist and Heber Santos in straight sets.
Violet Apisah, So., Sydney, Australia
- Won the singles title in this past week's ITA Regionals.
- Became the first player since Anais Gabriel in 2018 and 2019 to win back-to-back singles titles.
- Dominated in singles through the entire tournament, not allowing an opponent to win more than three games in a set.
- In doubles, she and her teammate Vanja Vidanovic reached the final where they lost to their teammates in a third-set super tiebreak.
Both El Mesbahi and Apisah will now be in the running for the Keiser Athlete of the Month (September) awarded in October which will be featured on ESPN West Palm (106.3 FM).
