Keiser Athletics Names John Pryor as New Head Softball Coach

Director of Athletics Kris Swogger announced on Tuesday the hiring of John Pryor as the new head coach of the Keiser University softball team.

Pryor brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience to Keiser with his most recent stop at Florida National University.

"It is a tremendous honor and an incredible opportunity to join Keiser University," Pryor said. "My deepest gratitude to Kris Swogger (Director of Athletics) and Dr. Gary Vonk (Campus President) for their faith in my record. I am eager to begin this new journey and to be a part of the future of Keiser women's softball."

During his time at FNU, Pryor, who started the program in 2019, amassed an 81-41 record with the Conquistadors, including back-to-back USCAA National Championship titles (2020-21 & 2021-22). Before joining FNU, Pryor led the Blue Angels of the College of New Rochelle for three seasons. In addition, he twice coached the team to an NCAA DIII Scoring Title (2016-17, 2017-18).

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Coach Pryor also served as the head coach of the Empire State Huskies from 2011-2019, helping secure NCAA DI, DII, DIII, and NAIA placements and scholarships for graduating high school players.

Pryor served in the United States Marine Corps from 1991-1995. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves from 1995-1999.
