Softball Named Sun Conference Team of Character

The Keiser University Softball Team was named the 2019-2020 Sun Conference Team of Character honoree. The Seahawks will be put forward by the league, joining the TSC FAR of the Year and the previous 10 announced, in consideration for the respective NAIA National Awards that will be announced in mid-September.

The Seahawks were very active in the community this past academic year. Keiser exhibited responsibility and servant leadership by taking part in a number of community events, including the Compassion Games (community engagement experience that invites people around the world to inspire one another to reveal and promote acts of compassion), Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, volunteering at Seminole Trail Elementary, and blood drives with the Red Blood Drive Bus.

Keiser used their status as NAIA student-athletes to teach, inspire, bond, and interact with others in order to bring together their campus community. The team exemplified the core values of the NAIA's Champion of Character program within their squad, throughout campus, and in the community by emphasizing integrity, respect, and sportsmanship.

Head Coach Terri Knect said, "Our team embraced the Compassion Games and found their own ways to impact the community throughout the year. As a program, we address and incorporate community service into our schedule and have always found the athletes willing to step up. We're honored to be recognized by the Sun Conference with this award. We look forward to continuing our helping ways in the community this coming year."
