Mallory Dills became the latest member of Keiser's 1,000-assist club on Wednesday night, and the Seahawks celebrated with a 25-10, 25-21, 25-15 sweep of Florida Memorial at the Student Life Center.
Dills passed the milestone in the first set, on a kill by Amelia Langelier. She finished the night with 26 assists without a single error on 26 attempts, adding six digs and a block assist as Keiser (8-7, 4-2 SUN) won its third match in a row.
Keiser hit .333 as a team, with 46 kills, 14 errors and 43 assists on 96 attempts, while holding Florida Memorial (0-11, 0-5) to a .066 attack percentage.
The Seahawks were at their sharpest in the opener. They hit .565 in the set (16 kills, three errors on 23 swings) and pulled away early. Keiser led 14-5 before the visitors took their first timeout, then closed out the set 25-10.
Florida Memorial made a match of the second set. The teams were tied at 5-5 and again at 12-12, and Keiser led 23-16 late before the visitors rattled off five straight points to cut it to 23-21. Addison Chapman put away a kill from Makenzi Bennett's set to get Keiser to set point, and a Florida Memorial attack error ended it.
Keiser controlled the third set from the start. Paryss Betts reeled off three straight points at the service line to push a 9-7 lead to 12-7, and the Seahawks led by as many as nine before finishing with a Marina Maia kill, set up by Betts, to seal the sweep.
Langelier led the offense with nine kills on a .615 hitting percentage in two sets. Aubree Valcourt added seven kills and three blocks (two solo), and Chapman had six kills while hitting .455. Hannah Mary Herrick chipped in five kills, and Bennett and Cece Worsham each had four. Worsham also added nine digs and a service ace.
Reese Jones was the defensive standout with 11 digs, six assists and two aces, and Amie Molina contributed seven assists. Keiser finished with 46 digs and four aces as a team.
Dianeyra Zapata Jimenez led Florida Memorial with 16 digs, and L'fe Roberts had six kills. Carolina Alonso and Leila Betancourt each had 10 assists.
The Seahawks will head to Sarasota, Florida, to take on the New College of Florida on Saturday, Oct. 3. Game time is set for 2:00 PM
