Delia Letelier scored the game's first goal and No. 2 Keiser broke it open with a pair of late goals to beat No. 8 Grace (IN), 3-0, on Thursday in a neutral-site showdown between two of the top 10 teams in the NAIA.
The Seahawks improved to 4-0-1 and posted their third shutout, while the Lancers (4-1-1) suffered their first loss of the year. It was the first meeting all-time between the two programs.
Letelier put Keiser ahead in the 25th minute, redirecting a feed from
Blanca Bächi past Grace goalkeeper Ivy Cline for the game-winner. The Seahawks did not add to the lead until the final 10 minutes, when
Emilia Nilsson scored in the 81st minute and
Luisa Fontes followed a minute later in the 83rd to make it 3-0.
Keiser held an 11-5 edge in shots and a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal despite Grace controlling the corner-kick count, 7-3. Goalkeeper
Mio Tanaka made two saves to secure the clean sheet, her third shutout of the season, and improved to 4-0-1 on the year.
The Seahawks will next face No. 1 Cumberlands (Ky.) on Saturday, September 12. Game time is set for 7:00 PM
