Keiser women's soccer put together a dominant first half and held on through a lengthy second-half weather delay to cruise to a 4-0 shutout of Ave Maria, keeping the Seahawks unbeaten on the season.
The Seahawks pressed from the opening whistle, with Ruby Vernon, Ida Åkerlind and Marta Filipe all testing Ave Maria goalkeeper Emma Schweitzer early on. The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Vernon opened her season account off assists from Filipe and Blanca Bächi. Keiser struck twice more in the final minutes of the half, as Nynka Rucker converted an Emilia Nilsson feed in the 43rd minute and Sofia Pietra followed moments later off a corner kick, sending the Seahawks into the break up 3-0.
Play was halted roughly three hours for weather in the second half, but Keiser picked up where it left off once action resumed. Delia Letelier capped the scoring in the 66th minute, assisted by Vernon and Ella Bergström, and the Seahawks coasted the rest of the way. Goalkeeper Mio Tanaka earned the shutout without facing a single shot on target, while Emma Schweitzer made 4 saves for Ave Maria. Keiser dominated the shot count 23-2 and won the corner-kick battle 8-1.
