WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – No. 24 Baseball split a doubleheader with Midland on Saturday at Silvester Jr. Field, dropping the opener 6-4 before rebounding with a dominant 14-5 victory to close out the day. Game two was called at seven innings due to severe storms in the area. With the win, the Seahawks moved to 12-5 on the season.
In the opener, Keiser's offense was held in check by Midland's pitching staff, managing just four hits on the afternoon. Alex Getz provided the big hit for the Seahawks, blasting a grand slam off Midland reliever Andres Rivera in the bottom of the third inning to account for all four Keiser runs. Tad Brooks was the most consistent offensive presence, going 2-for-4 on the day. On the mound, Keiser starter Austin Taylor was solid through 4.2 innings but was undone by a Dax Wandler three-run home run in the top of the third that put Midland ahead for good. Midland added two more in the fifth to extend their lead to 6-4, and the Seahawks could not answer. Seth Broadwell and Logan Butler combined for 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, but the deficit was too much to overcome. Harrison Acquaro earned the win for Midland in relief.
The Seahawks bounced back emphatically in game two of the afternoon, erupting for 14 runs on 11 hits to cruise to a 14-5 victory despite incoming storms. Keiser sent the message early, plating three runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Tad Brooks and an RBI single by Maurice Maiquez, capped by Karson Nadal being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a third run. After Midland rallied for four runs in the top of the third — highlighted by an Owen Glover three-run home run — Keiser answered with three of their own in the bottom half. Luis Alvarez delivered an RBI single and later stole home to cap the frame and put Keiser back in front. The Seahawks put the game away with back-to-back four-run innings in the fifth and sixth. Ty Martinez launched a three-run home run to right field in the fifth, and Jake Olsen followed with a solo shot to left to make it 10-5. Keiser piled on in the sixth with four more runs, taking advantage of Midland's bullpen and an error. Nadal drove in three runs across the game, while Jeremy Garcia went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Maiquez added two hits. On the mound, Noah Eatman earned the win, allowing just one earned run in 1.1 innings of relief, and Jack Sanchez was excellent in closing things out, tossing 3.1 innings of one-run ball with three strikeouts.
