Coming off a third-place finish from Sam Libby and a fourth-place finish from Patrick Jones at the Falcon Open, the No. 22 Keiser wrestling team heads to Georgia this weekend for a conference dual and an open tournament. The Seahawks open Southern States Athletic Conference play Saturday, November 7th, at Andrew College in Cuthbert, Ga., with first whistle set for 1:00 p.m. On Sunday, November 8th, Keiser travels to Franklin Springs, Ga., for the Georgia Open, hosted by Emmanuel University, with wrestling beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The conference opener is the first meeting between the two programs. Keiser sends a lineup led by three nationally ranked wrestlers. No. 9 Patrick Jones (125), the reigning conference champion, brings a 5-2 record into the weekend. No. 8 Sam Libby (197), who is 6-1 this season with a Manuel Gorriaran Award from last year's national tournament, anchors the upper weights. No. 12 Daguy Massillon (285) will wrestle at heavyweight. All three return from last year's national qualifying group, along with Anthony Santos (149).Â
The weekend continues Sunday at the Georgia Open, Keiser's second open tournament of the season. The Seahawks bring a large group to compete in both the Gold and Silver Divisions, led by No. 17 Jett McCauley, a returning national qualifier who wrestles at 197 in the Gold Division.
