No. 6 Keiser men's basketball overcame a challenging first half to pull away from St. Thomas in the second period, claiming a 78-69 victory on Saturday afternoon at the Fernandez Family Center. The win pushed Keiser's record to 16-3 overall and 7-2 in Sun Conference play, while the Bobcats dropped to 12-9 and 4-5 in conference action.

The opening period was a back-and-forth affair with seven ties and two lead changes. St. Thomas jumped out to an early 11-point advantage at 21-10 following a layup by Kaleb Myers at the 10:10 mark, forcing Keiser to call a 30-second timeout. The Seahawks responded with an 8-0 run, sparked by Nadir Myers' back-to-back layups and a three-pointer from Loghan Downie that trimmed the deficit to 28-25. The teams traded baskets down the stretch before Nadir Myers was fouled shooting a three and hit three consecutive free throws second to knot the score at 33-33 heading into halftime.

Keiser seized control early in the second half, with Nadir Myers opening the period with a three-pointer to give the Seahawks their first lead since the 17 minute-mark of the first half. Jackson Slater caught fire, draining back-to-back three-pointers, including a four-point play to extend Keiser's advantage to 47-36. The Seahawks never looked back, stretching the lead to as many as 13 points at 75-62 with 1:28 remaining.

Keiser will be back on the road on Tuesday, January 27 against Florida College. Tipoff from the Conn Gymnasium in Temple Terrace, Fla. is set for 6:00 p.m.
