West Palm Beach, FL – Keiser University dropped a 46-52 decision on Wednesday night at the Student Life Center, falling to 12-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
The Seahawks struggled offensively throughout the contest, shooting just 24.5% from the field (13-53) and 19.2% from three-point range (5-26). Despite reaching the free-throw line 22 times and converting 15 attempts, Keiser couldn't overcome their shooting difficulties.
After trailing 26-25 at halftime, the Seahawks were outscored 13-10 in the third quarter and couldn't recover in the fourth despite a late push.
Avrie Schmidt led Keiser with 12 points while adding two steals in 32 minutes of action. Satori Griffin contributed 11 points and three assists, though she shot just 4-17 from the floor. Emelia O'Gilvie provided a spark off the bench with nine points and nine rebounds. Caidyn Cannon battled on the glass with a team-high 12 rebounds (seven offensive) but was held to just six points on 1-9 shooting.
Keiser showed defensive intensity with eight steals and three blocks, and the Seahawks fought hard on the boards despite being outrebounded 44-40. The turnover battle was fairly even with Keiser committing 14 to the visitors' 15. The game remained competitive throughout, with neither team leading by more than 10 points at any point, and Keiser pulled within one point late in the fourth quarter before ultimately running out of time.
Keiser will look to bounce back this weekend when they face Florida Memorial on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
