For the second time in three days, No. 1 Keiser women's soccer earned a 4-0 win following today's showing against the New College of Florida Mighty Banyans.
Lauren Riley put Keiser on the board in the 25th minute off a cross from
Georgia Little. Just 12 minutes later,
Ruby Vernon doubled the lead with a header goal, again assisted by Little, sending Keiser into halftime up 2-0. The Seahawks maintained their dominance after the break as
Nynka Rucker scored her second goal of the season in the 67th minute following a setup from
Maria Vilhena.
Valeria Schiavo capped the scoring in the 87th minute, when a free kick from
Ida Palm found the striker free in the box.
Keiser will be back home on Sunday to take on the NAIA defending national champions, SCAD Savannah on Sunday morning. Kickoff from Arrigo-Vecellio Field in West Palm Beach, Fla. is set for 11:00 a.m.
- In the ninth minute, the Seahawks had seemingly taken the lead, but a handball called by the referee would wipe the goal from the board
- Riley's goal came in the 25th minute following a quick touch from Luisa Fontes to Little who sent a well-placed cross into the box
- Little earned her second assist of the game in the 37th minute when her cross from near midfield found Vernon who chipped the keeper with her header
- Midway through the second, Rucker played the ball to Vilhena who gave it right back for Rucker to blast it by the keeper
- Palm's free kick near the end of the game was in her own half as she sent a high pass that bounced in the box before Schiavo finished it off
- The Seahawks improve to 6-1-0 with the win
- Keiser moves to 2-0 on the road this season
- Riley's goal moves her into a tie for second on the team this season with three total
- Both Vernon and Rucker tallied their second goals of the year, while Schiavo became the 12th different scorer for the Seahawks
- Little continues to add to her assist total, bringing her to six with two more on the day
- Vilhena and Fontes are following closely behind with four and three, respectively
- For Palm, it was just her second-career assist
- Mio Tanaka got the start for KU in goal, but it was Madison Priebe who made the two needed saves to secure the shutout
- Keiser has now shut out five of their seven opponents
- On the offensive side of the ball, the Seahawks put forward 20 shots for the third time this season
- KU outshot NCF 20-3 on the day
