No. 25 Baseball Splits Final Home Games with New College, Take Series 3-1

The No. 25 Keiser baseball team split Saturday's doubleheader against New College of Florida, closing out their home schedule. In Game One, the Seahawks fell 8-6 despite taking an early lead. Landon Lowe paced the offense, going 2-for-3 with a double and scoring three times, while Simon Grinberg added two hits and two RBIs. On the mound, Jonathan Amonica worked 4.0 innings, allowing just two earned runs and striking out four. Carson Hawkes took the loss, pitching three innings and giving up two earned runs.

The Seahawks bounced back in dominant fashion in Game Two, rolling to a 13-2 win behind a standout performance from Matthew Nichols. Nichols, the team's "Swiss Army knife," went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Kyle Keyes threw a complete game, striking out eight and allowing just two runs over seven innings. Keiser cranked out 12 hits and scored six runs in the first inning to take early control and never looked back.

In the 3-1 series win, Keiser outscored New College 42-16 across four games. The Seahawks hit an impressive .375 as a team, led by standout performances from Landon Lowe (.615 average, eight runs) and Palmer Hutchison (.571 average, six RBIs).

The Seahawks will now await their seeding for the Sun Conference Tournament, with their first game set for Thursday, May 1, at a time to be determined in Fort Myers, Fla.

  • The Seahawks take the series 3-1 to mark the first series win over New College
  • In the series, Keiser hit an impressive .375 as a team with 15 different players making plate appearances
  • The Seahawks pitching staff held the Mighty Banyans to a .262 average and producing a total of 25 strikeouts

Seahawk Batters
  • Landon Lowe was exceptional at the plate, batting .667 with four hits 
  • Matthew Nichols also had a strong showing, hitting .500 with four hits, Nicols contributed two runs, three RBI, and one double
  • Andrew Almendarez made the most of his playing time, hitting .500 with two hits in his two at-bats, driving in two RBI
  • Palmer Hutchison posted a .400 average, he also contributed two RBI and drew two walks
  • Simon Grinberg hit .375, with three hits, adding three RBI and a double
  • Gavin Baird had a .250 average, with two hits, including two doubles and three RBI
  • As a team, Keiser posted a .345 batting average in the two games, collecting 20 hits, 16 RBIs, and nine walks
