No. 3 Men's Lacrosse Cruises By Point in AAC Quarterfinals

Records: No. 1 Keiser (10-1, 7-1 AAC), Point (6-9, 2-6 AAC)
Location: Multi-Purpose Field - West Palm Beach, Fla. 

No. 3 Keiser men's lacrosse cruised by (rv) Point this afternoon with a dominant 19-9 AAC Quarterfinal win. Keiser moves to 2-0 in the AAC post-season quarterfinals, and 5-2 all-time. The Seahawks were led by Kegan Hufford, with another career-high performance. Hufford notched a career-high seven points, followed by Marek Albiero, Vincent Cerasuolo and Ryan Rundle each netting hat-tricks. Chris Rayburn was perfect in the face-off circle, going 10-for-10. Zach Crotwell collected a career-high seven groundballs. The Seahawks shot a season-high 71 shots on the day. 

Keiser will be back on the road to face No. 2 Reinhardt University, April 26th. The opening face-off is set for 4:00 p.m. from Marietta, Ga. 

First Quarter
Keiser 6, Point 1
  • Kegan Hufford netted his first goal of the day with an assist from Shane Cassidy with 11:47 remaining in the quarter
  • Point's Thomas Van Alstine evened things up at one at 9:24
  • With 8:34 on the clock, Marek Albiero scored a lone goal to push the Seahawks lead to one 
  • At 6:54 Lucas Green became the third goalie in program history to record 200 saves 
  • The Seahawks closed out the first quarter with a four-goal scoring run with goals from Ryan Rundle, AJ Badik, and Hufford 
Second Quarter
Keiser 10, Point 5
  • The Skyhawks opened the second quarter with Shaun McLaughlin finding the back of the net to cut the lead to four 
  • At 11:16, Jamison Cross scored again for the Skyhawks 
  • Vincent Cerasuolo chose the top right corner and scored less than a minute later 
  • Tim Manley Jr. found Hufford to extend KU's lead to five with 9:21 remaining 
  • Van Alstine and Cross netted back-to-back goals to cut the lead to three 
  • Then Cerasuolo capitalized on a man-up opportunity with over a minute remaining in the first half 
  • To close out the first half, Cerasuolo netted his hat-trick with 20 seconds remaining 
Third Quarter
Keiser 16, Point 6
  • The Seahawks scored two goals in 16 seconds to open up the second-half scoring with goals from Rundle and Jackson Marshall 
  • At 12:15 Van Alstine found the back of the net for the Skyhawks to end the Seahawks scoring run to make it 12-6 KU
  •  To close out the third quarter, the Seahawks went on another scoring run with goals by Albiero, Matt Sheehy, Donovan Barnshaw and Hufford 

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 19, Point 9
  • Albiero and Rundle scored back-to-back goals to open up the final quarter of play 
  • Rodney Oakley ended the Seahawks scoring run at 9:05 to make it 18-7 KU
  • A lone goal by Cross with 8:14 remaining cut the lead to 10
  • Cole Newsome scored his first career-goal at 7:13 for the final Seahawks goal of the game 
  • With 5:35 remaining to play, Van Alstine found the back of the net one last time 
Game Notes
  • Keiser is now 5-2 all-time in the AAC tournament and 2-0 in the quarterfinals
  • KU moves to 8-0 all-time against Point
  • Kegan Hufford had a career-high seven points 
  • Three Seahawks netted three goals
