No. 3 Men's Lacrosse Takes Down No. 1 Webber International

No. 3 Keiser men's lacrosse took down the No. 1 Webber International Warriors on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon. Before the game, Keiser honored eight seniors, Vincent Cerasuolo, Tim Manley Jr., Logan Patrick, Jackson Marshall, Jerome Salerno, Jalen Parker and Reese Niemeier. The Seahawks were led by Kegan Hufford who netted six goals in the contest and the final goal of the day. Ryan Stowell and AJ Badik combined for seven points. Lucas Green made 10 saves between the pipes.


First Quarter
Keiser 3, WIU 7
  • AJ Badik opened up scoring on a man-up opportunity from a look by Vincent Cerasuolo with 13:29 on the clock 
  • The Warriors evened the score three minutes later with a goal from Philip Scopano 
  • Kegan Hufford started his career-high afternoon with 9:41 on the clock to put the Seahawks up one 
  • On a man-down opportunity, Ryan Stowell found the back of the net to further push the lead
  • WIU's Dillion Ziemba utilized a man-up opportunity to cut into the KU lead 
  • To finish the quarter, Webber Int'l went on a six-goal run over a six-minute period 

Second Quarter
Keiser 11, WIU 8
  • Hufford opened the second quarter with back-to-back goals within 40 seconds of each other which brought the Seahawks within two 
  • After Vincent Cerasuolo caused the Warriors to turn the ball over and a successful clear, JP Prather netted his first goal of the game 
  • Ryan Rundle found Ryan Stowell to even the score at 7-7, with 10:35 remaining in the second quarter 
  • Ziemba would stop the Seahawks run with a solo goal at 9:13 
  • Hufford netted his fourth and fifth goals of the game to put the Seahawks up one with 8:05 to go 
  • Kyle Davis found Marek Albiero who scored as he nailed the low corner, 10-8 KU
  • Badik seized another man-up opportunity as Braeden Niemy found him to put the Seahawks up three before the half 

Third Quarter
Keiser 13, WIU 13
  • The Seahawks opened the scoring out of the half as Rundle found Badik for the four-goal lead with 13:29 left
  • WIU ended the Seahawks run as Daniel McClure secured his hat-trick 
  • Goals from Scopano and Ziemba evened the score once again, making it a 12-12 game with 6:27 left in the quarter 
  • With 1:59 remaining in the third quarter, Bentley King geave the Warriors the on-goal lead 
  • To close out the third quarter, Rundle and Stowell connected once more to tie the game at 13

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 17, WIU 16
  • Six seconds into the final quarter of play, Stowell netted his hat-trick from an assist by Chris Rayburn to make the game 14-13 KU
  • Prather netted his second goal of the game at 11:40 to extend the Seahawks lead
  • King ended the Seahawks run with a solo goal with 8:44 remaining 
  • Defense led to offense, as Reese Niemeier caused the Warriors to turn the ball over, which led Matt Sheehy to net his first goal of the game with 6:51 to go 
  • Jeremiah Loo brought the Warriors within one at 4:28 
  • WIU's Nick Sheaffer tied the game at 16 with 1:53 remaining 
  • In the final minute of play, Kyle Davis was able to keep the ball inbounds after a Luke Secreti save, where head coach Jeff Desko would call a timeout before the final play 
  • Out of the timeout, Kegan Hufford called game as he netted his sixth goal of the game with 25 seconds remaining 
  • Rayburn won the final face-off of the afternoon which sealed the Seahawks victory

  • Keiser finishes the regular season 9-1 
  • The Seahawks finish 7-1 in conference play 
  • KU extends their win streak against Webber Int'l to 11 straight
  • Kegan Hufford tallied a career-high six goals 
  • Ryan Rundle led the way in assists with three, followed by Vincent Cerasuolo and Kyle Davis with two 
  • Shane Cassidy tallied a career-high five caused-turnovers 
  • KU collected a season-high 18 caused-turnovers 
  • Between the pipes, Lucas Green tallied a season-high 10 saves 
  • Keiser controlled the face-off circle winning 24-of-37
  • The Seahawks were near-perfect clearing the ball, as they went 14-for-17
  • KU outshot WIU 50-44
