Flag Football Breaks Records in 89-0 Victory Over Reinhardt on Senior Day

A number of school records fell on Saturday as the Keiser flag football team defeated the Reinhardt Eagles, 89-0, during Senior Day. Posting a school-record 89 points, the Seahawks produced 374 yards of total offense while holding the Eagles to just 136. The shutout was the seventh of the season for the Seahawks.  

Prior to the game, Keiser recognized seniors Kennedy FosterEmma WagenmanJade MagraneChloe GriffinHaylie YoungAdrianna CavalottiSa'mya BryantReigan PellegrinoLizandra AmorMelina Trinidad, and Marisa Rubino for their contributions to the program.

Keiser quarterback Haylie Young set the school record for touchdown passes in a single game, recording 11 on Saturday. The Loxahatchee, Florida, native completed 27-of-34 passes for a school-record 354 yards. Young completed passes to nine different receivers, including Kennedy Foster, who set the school record for touchdown receptions with six versus the Eagles. Foster had seven catches for 103 yards.Chloe Griffin was one yard shy of 100 for the game, catching three passes for 99 yards with three TDs. Sophia Caprio added seven receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown. 

The defense which set the school record for interceptions, producing eight, was led by Adrianna Cavalotti, who tied the school record for flag pulls in a game with 12. She also picked off two passes with one returned for a touchdown. Playing both sides of the ball, Cavalotti also had a receiving touchdown. Ashlea Klam produced half of the Seahawks interceptions, registering a school-record four picks in the game. She leads the team this season with eight. Sa'mya Bryant, who tallied five flag pulls also had a pick six in the contest. 

The shutout marked the team's 26th in program history and extended the Seahawk's home winning streak to 13 games. 
 

First Quarter

Keiser 14, Reinhardt 0
  • It took just four plays before Keiser scored their first touchdown of the day as Adrianna Cavalotti picked off a pass by Isabella D'Apice, returning it 19 yards for the score
  • Following the made extra-point attempt, Keiser led, 7-0, with 10:30 on the game clock
  • On the Seahawk's second possession of the game, Haylie Young hit Kennedy Foster for a 26 yard gain
  • Foster kept the play going by pitching the ball to Chloe Griffin, who took it 10 yards for the score
  • Another successful extra-point attempt gave Keiser a 14-0 lead with 6:22 left in the first
  • The Eagles put together a nine-play, 44-yard drive down to the Keiser 36-yard line but a pass breakup by Sarah Villarreal on fourth-and-16 gave the ball back to the Seahawks with 1:47 on remaining
  • During that drive Adrianna Cavalotti recorded three of her record-tying 12 flag pulls 

Second Quarter

Keiser 42, Reinhardt 0
  • Young and Foster hooked up for a second time to start the second quarter this time for seven yards and a touchdown
  • With 10:34 left in the half, Keiser led, 21-0
  • Reinhardt put together another long drive, lasting 10 plays that ate up 4:57 off the game clock
  • However an incomplete pass from D'Apice to Jahnaeia Thomas turned the ball over on downs as Keiser gained possession with 5:37 remaining in the first half
  • The Seahawks drove 57 yards on four plays as Griffin notched her second receiving touchdown of the game (3:08)
  • A Young to Foster extra-point attempt pushed the Seahawks lead to 28-0
  • The Keiser defense forced a three-and-out and got the ball back, returning RU's punt to the KU 39-yard line with 1:37 on the game clock
  • After Reinhardt's defense held the Seahawks offense and took on on downs (at the RU 25), Sarah Villarreal recorded the second Keiser interception
  • On the very next play, Young recorded her third passing touchdown with a 22-yard strike to Foster (00:16) 
  • Again, an interception for the Seahawks, gave Keiser the ball deep in Eagles territory (seven-yard line)
  • Ashlea Klam intercepted D'Apice at the RU 32-yard line and returned 10 yards before pitching it to Foster who took it down to the seven-yard line
  • On first-and-goal, Young completed a seven-yard TD pass to Foster as the clock hit 00:00

Third Quarter

Keiser 72, Reinhardt 0
  • Starting with the ball at the beginning of the second half, the Seahawks scored on one play with a 66-yard touchdown pass from Young to Griffin
  • The extra point extended the Seahawks lead to 49-0 with 11:49 left in the third
  • Keiser's defense halted another Eagles drive with the team's fourth interception as Klam picked off her second pass of the game
  • After returning it 23 yard Klam pitched the ball to Sa'mya Bryant, who took it to the Reinhardt 17-yard line (9:12)
  • With great field position, the Seahawks struck again as Young found Foster for 17 yards and the touchdown (8:35)
  • The TD pass by Young tied the school record for touchdown passes in a game 
  • De'ja Vu hit when Klam picked off her third pass of the game, returning the ball to the RU 20-yard line (8:20)
  • Klam's became the first player in school history to record three interceptions in a single game
  • Records fell, three plays later as Young recorded her school-record eighth touchdown pass of the game
  • On the receiving end of the record-setting TD was Foster, who grabbed her record-setting fifth touchdown catch of the contest 
  • Keiser's defense wasn't done as Bryant scored on a pick-six, returning the team's sixth interception to the house (5:22)
  • The interception was the team's seventh of the game (school record) 
  • The Seahawks closed out the quarter with one more score as Young and Caprio connected for a one-yard touchdown pass as time expired in the quarter 

Fourth Quarter

Keiser 89, Reinhardt 0
  • Cavalotti recorded Keiser's seventh pick of the game, intercepting D'Apice and returning it 32 yards to the RU 20-yard line (5:35)
  • The Seahawks turned that turnover into points as Cavalotti caught a three-yard pass from Young in the endzone
  • Klam added to her school record, grabbing her fourth interception of the game, giving Keiser the ball at the RU 31-yard line with 1:11 left in the game 
  • For the 11th time in the game, Young found the endzone as she completed a 13-yard pass to Foster (her sixth receiving TD of the game) with 12 seconds left in the game
