No. 1 Keiser men's lacrosse held Michigan-Dearborn to a season-low five goals on Sunday afternoon, in a 18-5 victory to fly past them.
JP Prather and
Ryan Stowell combined for 10 goals, while
Ryan Rundle collected one goal and three assists on the day.
Lucas Green had six saves on the day, while facing 20 shots and posting a 54.5% save percentage. The Seahawks once again out-shot their opponent 58-20.
The Seahawks are on the road once again as they face the Cavaliers of Montreat College (N.C.) next Saturday, March 8th. The opening face-off is set for 1:00 PM in Black Mountain, N.C.
Keiser 5, UMD 1
- Defender Shane Cassidy started the Seahawks scoring his first career goal with 11:08 on the clock to give the Seahawks the early lead.
- The Seahawks went on a three goal run over a two minute period AJ Badik, Ryan Rundle and Vincent Cerasuolo all found the back of the cage
- The Wolverines stopped the run with a goal from Garrett Kern with 5:06 remaining in the quarter
- Vincent Cerasuolo found JP Prather for a top corner goal to end the quarter for the Seahawks with a four goal lead
Keiser 8 , UMD 1
- Prather opened the second quarter with a solo goal at 13:54 on the clock
- Badik then capitalized on a man-up opportunity to further Keiser's lead to six with less then nine minutes to go
- After a failed clear attempt by the Wolverines, Ryan Stowell found the top shelf with 3:07 to go before halftime
- Lucas Green and the Keiser defense locked down the Wolverines, holding them to only eight shots going into the half
Keiser 14, UMD 2
- Prather netted his hat trick to extend KU's lead to eight, with 13:58 remaining
- After exchanging possessions, Prather was able to collect his fourth goal of the game around the eight and a half minute mark for the nine goal lead
- Kyle Davis collected his second assist of the game, when he found Cerasuolo for Keiser 11-1 lead
- Shane Marion ended the Seahawks run with a solo goal, to make it an 11-2 game
- Prather and Stowell were quick to answer back as they both found the back of the net with around three minutes left to go in the quarter
Keiser 18, UMD 5
- To open up the final quarter of play, Rundle found Braeden Niemy for his first goal of the game, for the 15-2 Keiser lead
- After exchanging shots, with 8:39 on the clock Stowell netted his fourth goal
- The Wolverines answered back with two goals, from Reece Rath and Aidan Meyers to cut into the Seahawks lead
- At 5:22, UMD found the back of the net again with Rath finding Cole Rosenwald to make it 16-5
- With a little over two minutes to go, Colin Foster finds Tim Manly Jr., while shortly Stowell netted his fifth goal at 1:51 for the final dagger of the game
- Keiser improves to 4-0 in the regular season
- The Seahawks are now 1-0 against the Wolverines
- JP Prather and Ryan Stowell led the way in scoring with five
- KU fell just short of a season-high in points, as they had 27 today
- Shane Cassidy, Chris Rayburn and Jackson Marshall each collected three ground balls
- Ryan Rundle led the Seahawks in assists, followed by Vincent Cerasuolo and Kyle Davis with 2
- The Seahawks defense held Michigan-Dearborn to a season-low of five goals
- In the faceoff circle, Chris Rayburn went 7-of-12, while Cole Nappi went 6-of-11
- Keiser had a season low of 13 turnovers
- The Seahawks totaled nine assists today
- For the third straight game KU was near perfect while clearing the ball going 18-20
