Keiser flag football improved to 2-0 (1-0 SUN) on the year with a 20-6 win over the Warner Royals in Sun Conference action on Thursday, February 27. Winning their 21st home game in program history, the Seahawks won their ninth straight home game with the 13-point victory over the Royals.
Quarterback
Haylie Young completed 31-of-38 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns versus the Royals. She connected on touchdown passes for
Brenna Ramirez (14 yards),
Janasia Wilson (nine yards), and
Chloe Griffin (18 yards). Ramirez finished the day with seven catches for 57 yards while Griffin posted four catches for 53 yards. Wilson, who had three catches in the game, notched the first receiving touchdown of her Keiser career.
Sophia Caprio led all Seahawks with nine catches for 69 yards.
The Keiser defense was led by
Adrianna Cavalotti and
Ashlea Klam, who each recorded five flag pulls in the contest.
Kennedy Foster registered two interceptions in the game - both coming in the fourth quarter.
With the win, Keiser improved to 10-0 all-time versus the Royals (3-0 at the KU Multi-Purpose Field). The Seahawks move to 32-5 all-time in Sun Conference action.
Keiser 0, Warner 0
- The Seahawks opened the game with the ball and looked to get the first point of the game up on the board
- Keiser used up 7:20 off the game clock to go 59 yards on 13 plays but was stopped the Warner seven-yard line on fourth-and-goal
- The Seahawk's defense forced the Royals to punt with 1:10 left in the quarter, giving Keiser the ball back at their own 24-yard line
- KU closed out the quarter, holding the Royals to just 15 yards of total offense
Keiser 6, Warner 6
- A 14-yard pass from Haylie Young to Brenna Ramirez got Keiser on the board with 9:19 left in the half
- The score capped off a seven-play, 56-yard drive that lasted 3:51
- The touchdown reception for Ramirez was the 20th of her Keiser career - third player in school history to reach 20 touchdown catches
- Warner responded with a scoring drive of its own, eating up 6:58 off the game clock
- WU's Jenna Marrero completed an eight-yard TD pass to Jessica Finley with 2:21 remaining in the half

- The third quarter produced just two possessions for the Seahawks and one for the Royals
- After a WU punt gave the Seahawks the ball at their own 33-yard line with 7:55 left in the third, KU drove 46 yards deep into Warner territory
- On fourth-and-goal from the WU nine-yard line, Young found Sophia Caprio for eight yards but a flag pull by Ana Vincensini at the one-yard line halted the drive and gave the ball back to the Royals (2:01)
Keiser 20, Warner 6
- With 11:50 left in the game, the Seahawks got the ball at the Warner 30-yard line
- Four plays later, Young completed a nine-yard touchdown pass to Janasia Wilson, giving Keiser the lead (9:48)
- A success full extra-point try (Young to Klam) gave Keiser a seven-point lead, 13-6
- On the next Warner drive, Kennedy Foster picked off a pass by Marrero as Keiser took over possession from their own 36-yard line (5:30)
- The Seahawks turned that interception into points as Young connected with Chloe Griffin for 18 yards and the score (1:04)
- A successful extra-point attempt (Young to Foster) extended the Keiser lead, 20-6
- Warner looked to regroup and respond to the Keiser score but Foster's second interception of the game, sealed the victory for the Seahawks
Keiser will host the St. Thomas Bobcats on Saturday, March 1. Game time is set for 12:00 PM.
