No. 1 Men's Lacrosse Defeats Farmingdale State, 17-8

Location: Oxbridge Academy Football Field - West Palm Beach, Fla. 

No. 1 Keiser men's lacrosse took down NCAA D-III Farmingdale State College today with a dominant 17-8 performance. The Seahawks were ahead for the entirety of the game. Ryan Rundle led the way with five goals, followed by AJ Badik whom had four. Five Seahawks had two or more goals as they shot 41.5% from the field. The Rams offense were held to only eight goals.

Keiser will return to conference play this Saturday at Tennessee Wesleyan. Opening face-off is set for 1:00 PM from Athens, Tenn. 

First Quarter
Keiser 5, FSC 2
  • KU opened up the scoring with 12:54 on the clock with Braeden Niemy finding the back of the net from Vincent Cerasuolo
  • AJ Badik put his first of many away to make it a 2-0 game
  • With 8:27 left to go in the first, Lucas Green had already made four saves
  • The Rams answered back at the four minute mark with a goal from Thomas Mai
  • Marek Albiero netted his fourth goal of the season to extend Keiser's lead, 3-1 
  • While Mai connected with Gerardo Maldonado, to make it a one goal game, JP Prather was quick to answer with one of his own to make it a 4-2 game
  • To end the first, with nine seconds remaining on the clock, Badik found Ryan Rundle to further the Keiser lead to three
Second Quarter
Keiser 7, FSC 4
  • Two minutes into the second quarter, Kegan Hufford found Cerasuolo for the 6-2 lead
  • Adam Giovinco and Kamryn Gill connected to cut into the Seahawks lead, with 10:20 remaining 
  • Cerasuolo found the back of the cage once again to keep pushing the lead with 9:48 on the clock
  • After exchanging shots, Farmingdale's Thomas Stock netted his first of the game from a look by Adam Giovinco to bring the Rams within three
  • Green made two saves in the second quarter while also collecting a ground ball

Third Quarter
Keiser 14, FSC 6
  • Keiser took control of the game in the third, scoring seven goals while holding FSC to only two
  • Hufford found Prather to earn his second assist of the game with 11:45 to go
  • Two minutes later, Kyle Davis found Rundle to make it a five goal game, 9-4
  • The Seahawks then went on a four goal run within a three minute span
  • With 2:46 to go Badik put his third goal of the game away to give KU the 10 goal lead, 14-4
  • The Rams then answered with two goals from Gill and Stock to cut the Seahawks lead to eight

Fourth Quarter
Keiser 17, FSC 8
  • After five minutes of play in the fourth, Davis and Rundle connected once again for the nine goal lead
  • A little over a minute later, Badik netted his fourth and final goal of the game with 7:44 left to go
  • Niemy earned his hat-trick at the 6:12 minute mark, 17-6
  • The Rams closed out the fourth with back to back goals from Adam Giovinco 

Game Notes
  • Keiser improves to 2-0 in the regular season 
  • Keiser is now 2-0 all-time against opponents from New York 
  • Ryan Rundle scored five of his six goals on the day, shooting at 83.3% 
  • KU went 19-of-29 in the face-off circle 
  • Chris Rayburn dominated the face-off going 11-of-15, while collecting six ground balls which is five short from his career-high
  • While Cole Nappi had a Keiser career-high day with eight face-off wins and five ground balls
  • Once again, Lucas Green defended between the pipes with eight saves 
  • The Seahawks totaled nine assists today 
  • Keiser outshot Farmingdale State 41-36
  • KU was near perfect while clearing the ball going 16-20
