No. 1 Keiser men's lacrosse used a strong first half to cruise to its third win of the season in a 17-7victory over Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Stowell led Keiser with five goals while
Ryan Rundle posted a game-high points in the contest. The Seahawks used a smothering offense, out-shooting the Bulldogs, 50-22, to improve to 8-1 all-time versus TWU.
The Seahawks will then face the Wolverines of Michigan-Dearborn this Sunday. Opening face-off is set for 2:00 PM from Athens, Tenn.
Keiser 4, TWU 1
- 48 seconds into the game, Vincent Cerasuolo found the back of the net with an assist from AJ Badik
- Cerasuolo found the net once again with 12:14 remaining, from a look by Donovan Barnshaw
- At the 7:26 mark, Badik got a goal of his own from Ryan Rundle to keep pushing the Seahawks lead, 3-0
- The Bulldogs capitalized on a man-up opportunity to cut the Seahawks lead to two
- Less than a minute later, with 3:00 minutes to go in the quarter Kegan Hufford brought the Keiser lead back to three
Keiser 10, TWU 2
- At 12:10, Rundle added to Keiser's lead to open up the second quarter, 5-1
- The Seahawks then netted back to back goals from Ryan Stowell and Hufford to continue to extend their lead, 7-1
- With 2:53, Hayden Harmon of TWU had an unassisted goal to cut into the Seahawks lead, 9-2
- Stowell collected his hat-trick with an assist from Rundle with 40 seconds remaining before half to end the quarter, 10-2
Keiser 16 , TWU 5
- To open up the second half, Shane Cassidy collected his first career assist as he found Rundle with 12:44 on the clock
- Carson Bowling answered back on another man-up opportunity at 10:43, to make the score 11-3
- The Seahawks then went on a five goal run, spanning over six minutes, as they held a 16-3 lead
- Bowling scored back to back goals, 16-5 with 38 seconds remaining
Keiser 17, TWU 7
- The Bulldogs opened up the scoring in the fourth with two goals around the eight minute mark to make it a nine goal game, 16-7
- At 5:32, Cerasuolo answered back with a solo goal to bring the lead to 10, 17-7
- Keiser improves to 3-0 in the regular season
- KU is now 2-0 in conference play
- The Seahawks are now 8-1 against the Bulldogs
- Ryan Stowell led the way in scoring with five, followed by Vincent Cerasuolo with four
- Jackson Marshall collected a career-high eight groundballs
- Three Seahawks collected two assists, Donovan Barnshaw, Ryan Rundle and AJ Badik
- Ethan Acosta fell just short of a career-high in caused turnovers, as he collected 2
- KU went 15-of-28 in the face-off circle
- The Seahawks totaled eleven assists today
- Keiser outshot Tenn. Wesleyan 50-22
