After falling behind early in the first, Keiser men's basketball rallied to tie the game at the half and used the momentum to go into the second half to earn the 82-67 win. The Seahawks were led in nearly every category by Vincent Miszkiewicz who had 16 points, 16 rebounds, nine assists, and two blocks. Chris Roth got hot for KU after the break, making his first five shots coming out of the break. Tyreon Payne and Jonathan Paul also had productive performances in the second half with ten points each after the break. It was another strong defensive effort from the Seahawks who held one of the highest-scoring offenses in the NAIA to just 67 points.

Keiser will be back on the road Wednesday, February 5, when they travel to play the Warner Royals. Tipoff from the Turner Athletic Center in Lake Wales, Fla. is set for 7:30 p.m.

A red-hot Chris Roth blew the score open in the second half, scoring 14 points in the first nine minutes of the half to give the Seahawks a 60-45 lead.
 
 
How it Happened


First Half
Keiser 33, NCF 33
  • New College came out hot from the start of the game, opening up a 22-10 lead in the first ten minutes of action
  • Keiser climbed back within seven on an Albert Dennis jumper with 8:30 still to play in the first
  • The Seahawks continued to control the next four minutes with Tyreon Payne making three layups to cut the lead down to just three
  • Calvin Sirmans would tie the game at 28 and then again at 33 as KU controlled the momentum going into the half


Second Half
Keiser 82, NCF 67
  • Chris Roth did not have a basket in the first period but had three threes by the 15-minute mark of the second as Keiser's lead grew to 11
  • Roth would hit another three to make it 65-40 with just under 12 minutes to play as he pushed his total to 14 in the half
  • From there, the Seahawks did what they do best: play defense and go to the big men down low
  • Jonathan Paul and Vincent Miszkiewicz would pace the Seahawks to a 68-51 lead with 5:54 on the clock
  • The Mighty Banyans would not be able to get within 10 through the final minutes of the game as Payne scored eight of the last 14 for KU

  • The NAIA's second-leading scorer, Charlie Yoder, was held to just 11 points on Saturday, his lowest of the season
