WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Keiser women's basketball made a statement in its home opener Monday evening, cruising past Trinity College of Jacksonville, 97–49, inside the Student Life Center. The win moves the Seahawks to 2–1 on the season and gives Head Coach Matthew Strickland his first victory at home.
The Seahawks jumped out quickly with a 23–8 first-quarter lead, applying defensive pressure that forced 13 turnovers in the opening frame alone. Keiser entered 42–25 advantage at the break.
Keiser's offense erupted in the third quarter, outscoring Trinity 33–11 behind hot shooting from Aly Avrach and Avrie Schmidt, who combined for 39 points on the night. The Seahawks built their largest lead of 54 late in the fourth quarter as the bench contributed 33 points and 44 off turnovers.
Avrach led the way with a career-high 21 points, including four three-pointers, while Schmidt followed closely with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Caidyn Cannon added 15 points and six rebounds, and Carolina de Domingo turned in a strong performance with 11 points, eight assists, and five steals. Emelia O'Gilvie tallied 10 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, and Jasmyn Hale dominated the glass with a game-high 12 rebounds and six steals.
The Seahawks' forcing 33 turnovers and racking up 20 steals as every player contributed to the blowout.
