WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Keiser women's basketball improved to 6-2 on the season with a 70-55 victory over the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in the opening game of the Thanksgiving Classic on Tuesday afternoon at the Student Life Center.
The Seahawks built an early lead and never trailed, jumping out to a 17-8 advantage after the first quarter. Despite UHSP's Analyssa Maldonado knocking down three first-half three-pointers to keep the Eutectics within striking distance, Keiser extended their lead to 38-26 by halftime behind a dominant second quarter.
Senior Aly Avrach was sensational in the opening half, putting on a shooting clinic with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. The Seahawks maintained control throughout the second half, weathering a brief UHSP surge in the third quarter. The Eutectics cut the deficit to seven points on multiple occasions, with Montasia McAllister and Maldonado combining for key baskets, but Keiser always had an answer.
Senior Jasmyn Hale was instrumental down the stretch, finishing with 13 points and 6 rebounds while providing steady play on both ends. Her second-half production, including nine points after halftime, helped keep UHSP at bay. Junior Emelia O'Gilvie was a force on the boards with eight rebounds while adding six points and five assists in a well-rounded performance.
