The Fire struck first just three minutes into the match when Ariadna Lozano found the back of the net off a looping header that fell in at the back post. Keiser settled in and equalized late in the first half when Luisa Fontes converted a corner in the 39th minute from Steingerður Snorradóttir that went to Blanca Bächi, who played it to Fontes in the box for the finish, knotting the score at 1-1 heading into halftime.
Southeastern regained control early in the second half, with Sara Irurozki scoring in the 49th minute and Rebecca Laface extending the lead to 3-1 at the 63-minute mark. Keiser continued to press offensively and narrowed the deficit in the 73rd minute when Lauren Riley netted her team-leading 16th goal of the season following a saved shot from Ruby Vernon. Despite several late chances, including another shot off the crossbar by Fontes, the Seahawks were unable to find the equalizer.
