Women's Basketball Picked Fifth in Sun Conference Preseason Poll

 The The Keiser Seahawks have been picked to finish fifth in the SUN Preseason announced by the league on Monday afternoon. The 2025-26 Sun Conference Preseason Women's Coaches' Poll was voted on by the conference's nine head coaches.
 
The Seahawks ended the 2024-25 season with a 19-9 overall record and a 12-4 mark in SUN conference play, earning the No. 4 seed in last year's conference tournament. Four Seahawks were named to the Sun All-Conference teams, including two first-team selections and two second-team selections, including forward returner Jasmyn Hale.

Keiser returns six players from last year's squad, with the majority of the 2025–26 team consisting of upperclassmen. The Seahawks will start the season under new leadership, as Head Coach Matthew Strickland and Assistant Coach Tyler Sobey begin their tenure at the helm.
 

Top of the League
  • Florida Memorial totaled 59 points, including five first-place votes to finish at the top of the standings
  • St. Thomas and Southeastern sit tied at second with 55 points, each squad additionally had two first place votes
  • Coastal Geogria slotted in at fourth with 42 points
  • Keiser rounded out the top five with 37 points

A Look Back at Last Season
  • KU ended the 2024-25 season with a 19-9 (12-4 SUN ) record
  • The Seahawks earned the No. 4 seed in the 2024-25 Sun Conference Women's Basketball Tournament
  • Keiser had four all-conference selections (Elise Ellison, Elliana Schaefer - first team; Mimmi Hahne, Jasmyn Hale- second team)
  • Hale averaged 8.0 points per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the field (No. 6 in the conference)
  • Additionally, she ranked second on the team in three-pointers made (26), shooting an impressive 44.8 percent from beyond the arc
  • Aly Avrach, Caidyn Cannon, Mahiro Oyama, Avrie Schmidt and, Amalia Vamvakitis mark the remaining returners from the 2024-25 season
  • Avrach ranked third on the squad last season in three pointers with 25

The 2025-26 season tips off on Friday, October 31, as the Seahawks travel to Reinhardt to face the Eagles in Waleska, Ga. Game time is set for 7:30PM.
