Saturday Sweep: Seahawks Overtake the Warriors in Babson Park, 3-0

BABSON PARK, Fla. — The Keiser volleyball team delivered a confident and balanced performance Saturday night, sweeping Webber International 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-18) in Sun Conference play. With the victory, the Seahawks improved to 10-10 overall and 5-6 in league action.

Keiser found its offensive rhythm early and never let up, led by Isabella Steffel's team-high 12 kills on an efficient .474 hitting percentage. Makenzi Bennett turned in another all-around performance with 10 kills, 16 digs, and a match-high three service aces. Cece Worsham also reached double figures with 10 kills and nine digs, while setter Mallory Dills guided the attack with 39 assists and 14 digs for her third consecutive double-double. Faith Marquis tied Bennett with 16 digs, helping the Seahawks limit the Warriors to a .154 hitting percentage.

The opening set was tightly contested, featuring 13 ties and several lead changes. Trailing 18-13, Keiser sparked a 7-1 run fueled by kills from Steffel, Worsham, and Aubree Valcourt to take the lead at 20-19. The Seahawks closed strong, with Valcourt's late kill setting up set point before a Webber error ended it 25-23.

Carrying that momentum into the second set, Keiser jumped out to a 10-5 lead behind steady setting from Dills and a balanced attack from Bennett, Steffel, and Worsham. The Seahawks pulled away midway through the frame with an 8-3 run highlighted by an ace from Abby Lester and strong defensive play from Marquis in the back row. Bennett sealed the set at 25-18 with a kill from the right side.

In the third, Keiser continued to dictate the tempo. Dills distributed the ball with precision, setting up Worsham and Valcourt for quick kills as the Seahawks opened up a 12-8 lead. Steffel continued to convert efficiently at the net, while Bennett's strong serving helped Keiser close on a 4-0 run. Back-to-back aces from Bennett capped the night with another 25-18 win to secure the sweep.

Keiser finished with a .221 team hitting percentage, totaling 47 kills and 70 digs compared to Webber's 34 kills and .154 clip. The Seahawks also held the edge in service aces, 5-2, and earned their third conference sweep of the season.
