No. 21 Keiser men's basketball handled business on the road Wednesday night, defeating the Southeastern Fire, 76-71. After a slow first half, Calvin Sirmans took the reins for the Seahawks, finishing with 24 points to lead all scorers. Vincent Miszkiewicz secured another double-double to take sole possession of second place in the Keiser record books with 29 double-doubles. The fourth-year player finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the game. Off the bench, Malik Kabia was a huge factor, scoring 15 points and adding four rebounds in his 24 minutes of action.

Keiser will have a home game on Saturday against the Webber International Warriors in West Palm Beach. Tipoff from the Student Life Center is set for 4:00 p.m.

Calvin Sirmans connected on his third three-pointer in four minutes with 2:06 remaining in the game to put the Seahawks up by 11 and in position to close out the game.

 
 
How it Happened


First Half
Keiser 34, SEU 34
  • It was a slow start to the contest with SEU scoring the first bucket, but Keiser led 8-7 after the first eight minutes of action
  • The Fire found the mark from there, breaking out on a 16-9 run to jump in front 23-17 with 5:46 to play
  • A dunk from Vincent Miszkiewicz would cut into the lead before seven consecutive offensive possessions from both sides would make it 30-29 SEU with just under a minute to play
  • Malik Kabia would secure the final basket of the half for KU on a three-pointer as the teams would go to the break tied at 34-34


Second Half
Keiser 76, SEU 71
  • The Fire would get the first basket of the second half, but a layup by Miszkiewicz off a Cameron Stitt steal would put the Seahawks ahead by one with 15:29 remaining 
  • Keiser would start to find their pace, extending their lead to 13 as Malik Kabia scored eight of the next 15 points for the Seahawks who led 59-46 with 10:09 showing
  • Southeastern would cut into the lead, but a three from Calvin Sirmans would make it a five-point advantage with 5:46 on the clock
  • The Fire would get another point on a free throw, but another three from Sirmans would extend the lead to 10 with under five minutes to play
  • Sirmans would finish with the final 11 points of the game for KU, as they went on to win 76-71
