Playing in front of their home crowd for the first time this season, the No. 1-ranked Keiser football team shut out the Fort Lauderdale Eagles, 45-0, on Saturday night.
The Seahawks produced 460 yards of total offense while defensively holding the Eagles to just 125.
Keiser was led by running back
Jaden Meizinger, who registered three touchdowns on eight carries for 76 yards. In all, the Seahawks produced 245 yards on the ground and five rushing touchdowns.
Shea Spencer tossed the team's only touchdown pass of the game, connecting with
Maurico Porcha for 52 yards. The defense produced nine tackles for loss as Keiser notched its first shutout of the season.
Keiser 14, Fort Lauderdale 0
- The Seahawks didn't take long to find the endzone, scoring on their first drive of the day
- Jaden Meizinger rushed for the first of three TDs with a 20-yard run with 10:43 on the game clock
- The made extra point by Ben Derby gave Keiser the 7-0 lead
- After forcing another Eagles punt, Keiser used a six-play, 65-yard drive that ate up 2:52 to extend the lead
- Shea Spencer connected with Maurico Porcha for a 52-yard strike as the Seahawks led 14-0 with 3:44 left in the first
Keiser 28, Fort Lauderdale 0
- The Seahawks opened the second with a five-yard touchdown run by Mezinger
- Derby's third made extra-point attempt pushed Keiser's lead to 21-0 with 14:45 remaining in the half
- The Seahawk's defense made quick work of the Eagles next drive, forcing a 3-and-out (-11 yards)
- A 13-yard punt by UFTL's Joseph Jones gave the ball back to Keiser at the Eagle's 19-yard line (12:55)
- Two plays later, the Seahawks made it a 28-0 game with 12:02 on the game clock
- Meizinger notched his third score of the game with a six-yard TD run
- The Seahawks defense recovered a fumble by quarterback DeRohn King at the UFTL 33-yard line (11:00)
- However, the Eagles defense picked off a deep pass by Damari Charlton to get the ball back nine seconds later (at their own eight-yard line)
- The Seahawks had a chance to extend their lead heading into halftime but a 30-yard field goal attempt by Derby sailed wide right with six second on the game clock
Keiser 38, Fort Lauderdale 0
- On the opening drive of the season half, Andrew Burnette used a four-yard run to notch his fourth touchdown of the season
- The score and extra point with 10:06 left in the third game the Seahawks a 35-0 lead
- The Seahawks forced another UFTL turnover on the ensuing kickoff as Evan Jackson forced the Eagles Warrner Williams to fumble the return, giving KU the ball at the Eagles' 23-yard line
- Keiser was unable to take advantage of the turnover but added three point two drives later
- Derby converted a 22-yard field goal attempt with 5:10 on the game clock as Keiser led, 35-0
- It was Derby's first made field goal of his career
Keiser 45, Fort Lauderdale 0
- UFTL's best chance to get on the scoreboard came early in the fourth as the Eagles drove down to the KU 12-yard line
- However, the Keiser defense kept the zero on the board forcing a turnover-on-down with 11:15 left in the game
- Running back Jaden Miller set the school record for longest rush, scoring on a 86-yard scamper as the Seahawks reached the 40-point plateau for the second straight week
