An exciting matchup throughout, No. 2 Keiser women's soccer had another strong second half to earn the 4-3 win over the (rv) Southeastern Fire in Lakeland, Florida on Wednesday night. Keiser jumped ahead early with Maria Vilhena's opener, but a Southeastern goal soon after would make the game even going into the break. Olivia Pousette broke the tie in the 52nd minute before chaos in the final 10 minutes where four goals would be scored, two for each side. In the end it was Vilhena and Lauren Riley who sealed the win for the Seahawks and extended the strong start.

Keiser will once again be on the road in another Sun Conference game on Wednesday, September 25 when they face the Florida Memorial Lions in Miami Gardens. Kickoff from Dr. Lester Brown Park is set for 1:00 PM.

How it Happened
  • Just over six minutes into the game, Julia Forslund launched a pass from her defensive position over the Fire defense and Maria Vilhena would do the rest, putting KU up 1-0
  • Lauren Riley nearly doubled the lead in the 15th minute, but her chance would be saved by Madison Songer
  • Southeastern countered on the other side as a half-volley from Makayla Peddycoart would ricochet off the crossbar and in to tie the game
  • The Seahawks would get a pair of chances in the following minutes as Olivia Pousette's header would clang off the crossbar just minutes before Alicia Rey's chance missed just wide
  • The majority of the remainder of the half would be spent on the Southeastern half as Keiser continued to pressure heading into the break
  • Six minutes into the second half, Keiser was on the front foot as Georgia Little fired a shot that was saved into the air where Pousette's header would cross the goal line and put the Seahawks back in front 2-0
  • KU continued to press forward with Emilia Nilsson's shot getting saved before Riley fired a shot just over the crossbar
  • The Fire began to take back some of the momentum in the 73rd minute, firing off two shots that would sail high
  • In the 82nd minute, a misplay from the Keiser backline resulted in the ball falling to Rebecca Laface who tied the game for the Fire, 2-2
  • 60 seconds later, Riley went over the top to Ramona Kannady who went around the keeper to find Vilhena who finished her second goal of the evening to make it 3-2 KU
  • Riley was moving forward again in the 85th minute, making a run from midfield before beating the keeper with a strong shot to the left side netting to make it 4-2
  • SEU would not be done as in the 87th minute, Madelyn Davidson curled a shot into the net for the Fire to cut the lead to 4-3
  • The final chances of the game would be for the Seahawks with Karine Ørud firing a pair of shots on goal as time expired.
