The Keiser Athletic Department announced this week's Seahawks Athletes of the Week on Monday. This week's winners, junior running back
Andrew Burnette and freshman defender
Steingerður Snorradóttir were recognized for their performances during the week Sept. 9-15th.
Andrew Burnette, Third Year, RB, Jensen Beach, Fla.
- Scored three touchdowns in a 42-33 win at NCAA Division II Newberry College
- The 100-yard rushing performance was the first of the season for the Jensen Beach product and the fourth of his Keiser career
- The three rushing touchdowns tied his career high set during last year's NAIA Football Championship Series (versus Bethel TN)
- Averaged 10 yards per carry versus the Wolves and produced a electric 75-yard run early in the fourth
- The run is tied for the second longest rush from scrimmage in program history (Burnette holds the school record - 78 yards versus SEU - 10/21/23)
- His 130 yards were part of a 250-yard performance on the ground for the Seahawks versus the Wolves - the most rushing yards allowed by a Newberry squad in 16 straight games (2022)
Steingerður Snorradóttir, First Year, D, Akureyri, Iceland
- Tallied her first goal and first assists in her career in a 5-2 win over New College of Florida
- With the score level and halftime approaching, Snorradóttir received a pass in the box and slotted home the game-winning goal
- In the second half, she provided assists on both goals to ensure the Keiser win on the home field
- The four points recorded by the first-year Seahawk are tied with teammate Lauren Riley for the most in a game this season
Both Burnnet and Snorradóttir
will now be in the running for the Keiser Athlete of the Month (September) award in October.
