The Keiser football team put together a dominant performance on both sides of the ball Saturday afternoon, defeating Ave Maria, 30-13, on Homecoming at Keiser Football Field. Keiser jumped out early. After forcing three straight punts to open the game, the Seahawks used a nine-play, 46-yard drive to take a 7-0 lead on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Damari Charlton to Israel Marion on fourth-and-6 with 4:36 left in the first quarter. Keiser struck again just over three minutes later when Jontay Hais broke free for a 32-yard touchdown run with 50 seconds left, giving the Seahawks a 13-0 advantage after the first quarter.

Ave Maria got on the board in the second quarter with a pair of Jeremy Burch field goals, a 48-yarder and a 52-yarder as time expired in the first half, to cut the deficit to 13-6 at the break.

The Seahawks answered in the third quarter with a methodical 18-play, 62-yard drive that consumed 9:48. Raphael Ekechi capped it with a one-yard touchdown run with 26 seconds left in the quarter to make it 20-6.

The Keiser defense took over in the fourth quarter. Tyler Seraphin forced a fumble in the Ave Maria end zone that Daniel Bello recovered for a touchdown, extending the lead to 27-6 with 13:36 remaining. Moments later, Kymani Edwin forced another fumble, this one recovered by Sophiste Jorvelus, as the Gyrenes were driving inside the Keiser 20. Later, the Seahawks stopped Ave Maria on downs at the Keiser 11 with 7:30 to play. Keiser then marched 71 yards in eight plays, aided by a 42-yard Charlton-to-Marion connection, and Dorian Hall booted a 35-yard field goal with 3:14 left to make it 30-6.

Ave Maria added a touchdown on a 20-yard pass from Logan Howard to Joshua Raphael with 1:29 remaining, but Keiser recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock.

Hais led the ground game with 97 yards on 10 carries (9.7 per carry) and a touchdown, and Charlton went 16-of-25 for 168 yards and a score. Marion hauled in six passes for a team-high 98 yards and a touchdown. The Seahawks controlled the ball for 36:07 and converted 3 of 4 fourth-down attempts.
The defense recorded eight tackles for loss for 57 yards, including two sacks, and held Ave Maria to 2-of-12 on third down.
