No. 2 Keiser women's tennis showed little struggle in their Sun Conference Semifinal win over No. 12 St. Thomas on Thursday afternoon. The Seahawks cruised through doubles with wins on courts two and three. Keiser kept the momentum going into singles, winning on the top three courts to clinch the match.
- No. 6 Visnevscaia was first through singles with a 6-1, 6-0 result over Carme Ibanez.
- Court one finished next as No. 3 V. Apisah took the 6-0, 6-1 win over Ciancaglini.
- P. Apisah clinched the point on court three with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Rodriguez.
- Keiser was in control on all three remaining courts when the match was clinched.
When asked about today's result, Head Coach
Daniel Finn had this to say: "Happy with the performance today. I thought the girls did a great job of being focused on business from start to finish. St. Thomas has a very good team and definitely was not somebody we wanted to take lightly. Being able to control the match on every single court today was definitely a statement by our girls and their level of focus today. I believe the match took about an hour and 40 minutes. Pulling that off in a semifinal and being able to get back to the hotel to rest for tomorrow is definitely huge. The big thing now is just being able to rest up and get ready for another top-five match tomorrow for the championship."
Keiser moves on to the Sun Conference Tournament Championship on April 26, where they will face the No. 7 Southeastern. First serve from the Marta B. Torrey Tennis Complex in Brunswick, Ga. is set for 10:00 a.m.
