Keiser men's lacrosse defeated No. 3 Webber International this afternoon and clinched a bye in the quarterfinal round of this year's AAC tournament. The Seahawks dug themselves out of an early deficit and stood tall defensively in the final minutes of the game to secure the win.
Keiser 2, WIU 4
- The Warriors struck first with a goal at the 10:26 mark.
- Kegan Hufford answered with an unassisted goal one minute later.
- Webber got two goals within two minutes to take a 3-1 lead.
- AJ Badik scored his first goal of the day with 1:00 on the clock.
- 30 seconds later, the Warriors got a man-up goal.
Keiser 10, WIU 5
- WIU got the first goal of the quarter with 14:22 showing on the board.
- Braeden Niemy found the net unassisted three minutes afterward.
- Niemy scored again with a JP Prather assist forty seconds later.
- Jackson Marshall found the net to tie the game at the 8:39 mark.
- Ryan Rundle scored with a Vincent Cerasuolo assist to give Keiser the lead one minute later.
- 60 seconds after that, AJ Badik scored on a man-up opportunity with a Kegan Hufford assist.
- From 4:18-0:08, the Seahawks went on a 3-0 scoring run with two goals from Cerasuolo and one from Niemy, with assists by Rundle, Niemy, and James MacGilvray.
Keiser 12, WIU 9
- WIU's Nick Sheaffer scored the first goal of the second half with 13:10 on the board.
- After four scoreless minutes, the Warriors scored two goals in a two-minute span.
- JP Prather broke the scoring run with an unassisted goal with 4:23 on the clock.
- Vincent Cerasuolo scored with 20 seconds left in the quarter to break Cole Stassi's school record for assists in a season (41).
- WIU scored the final goal of the quarter with three seconds left.
Keiser 14, WIU 12
- Webber's Jeremiah Loo scored a goal 24 seconds into the quarter.
- Braeden Niemy answered with his fourth goal of the day.
- AJ Badik converted a man-up opportunity with 11:58 showing on the clock.
- Webber Int'l scored two goals between 6:25 and 5:10, but the Seahawk defense stood their ground and kept the lead with Keiser.
- AJ Badik scored the game's final goal with five seconds remaining.
- Keiser outshot WIU 51-39. KU has now outshot its opponent in 25 consecutive games.
- KU caused 10 Warrior turnovers.
- Chris Rayburn went 13-30 on faceoffs with nine groundball pickups.
- The Seahawks went 28-33 on clears.
- Keiser picked up 22 groundballs.
- Lucas Green made 11 saves.
- Braeden Niemy recorded his fourth hat trick of the season. He has scored at least one point in every game this year.
