The Keiser flag football team shut out the University of Fort Lauderdale at home this afternoon with a heavy-scoring game totaling 62 points. Scoring was led by freshman
Ashlea Klam who recorded three touchdowns on the day. Defensively, the Seahawks totaled six interceptions, including two from junior linebacker
Sydney Woodman.
With the win, the Seahawks move to a 9-1 record overall.
Keiser 14, Fort Lauderdale 0
- The Seahawks got off to a hot start with a pass from quarterback Jazmin Rhoden to Kennedy Foster for a touchdown at 7:29.
- Rhoden went on to pass to Chloe Griffin for a successful two-point conversion.
- With 51 seconds remaining in the first quarter, an 11-yard pass from Rhoden to Ashlea Klam was good for the Seahawks second touchdown of the afternoon.
- The PAT was unsuccessful and the quarter ended with a 14-0 lead for Keiser.
Keiser 30 Fort Lauderdale 0
- Klam turned the ball back to the Seahawks to start the second quarter with an interception.
- With 8:09 left in the second quarter, Rhoden and Klam teamed up once again for a 7-yard touchdown.
- The dynamic duo teamed up again for the two-point conversion to extend the Keiser lead to 22-0.
- Foster and Rhoden doubled up for a 15-yard pass for Foster's second touchdown of the day.
- With 1:45 remaining, Rhoden and Klam secured the two-point conversion for a 30-0 Seahawk lead.
Keiser 43, Fort Lauderdale 0
- Keiser extended their large lead with a five-yard pass from Haylie Young to Klam for the touchdown at 4:59 making the score 36-0.
- The PAT attempt failed.
- With 2:17 left on the clock, Young passed to Chloe Griffin for a 10-yard touchdown to extend the lead to 43.
- The PAT attempt failed.
Keiser 62, Thomas 0
- Sophia Caprio recorded a 49-yard touchdown with a pass from Young one minute into the fourth quarter.
- The PAT failed.
- The Seahawks would end their scoring frenzy with an intercepted pass from Sa'mya Bryant recording a 14-yard touchdown with ten minutes remaining.
Keiser will return to the Multi-Purpose Field to face Life University this Saturday, April 13. Game time is set for 3:00 PM.
