Head Coach
Myles Russ announced on Friday updates to the Keiser football coach staff.
Â
"I'm very honored to have these role models on our coaching staff," Russ said. "Each one is gifted with qualities to help our team win on and off the field. I'm excited for the next steps for our program with the help of these leaders."
Â
The first-year head coach of the Seahawks announced the addition of four new members to the staff.
Â
Peter Davila has been named the team's new defensive coordinator. Davila comes to Keiser after spending four seasons at the University of Albany. There he served as the team's safeties coach (2022-23) and defensive backs coach (2020-21). A graduate of Youngstown State, Davila also worked at California University of Pennsylvania, James Madison, Otterbein University, and Capital University. Davila also spent time in the NFL, interning with the Tennessee Titans, the Houston Texans, and the Minnesota Vikings.
Â
Also joining the Keiser staff is Antonyo Woods, who has been named the Seahawk's offensive line coach. Woods comes to Keiser after coaching football at Santaluces High School in Lantana, Florida. He also served as the boys and girls wrestling coach for the Chiefs. Woods was also a coach at Fort Pierce Central. A 2017 graduate of Florida Atlantic, Woods was a standout offensive lineman for the Owls, being named to the 2017 Rimington Trophy Watch List (best center in college football).
Â
Frederick Alexander comes to Keiser as the team's defensive line coach. The native of Delray Beach, Florida, was the co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Chowan University. Before joining the Chowan staff, Alexander spent three seasons at Edward Waters as the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. He helped EWU transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. He also coached at Texas College (defensive line coach), Oklahoma Panhandle State (defensive line coach), and his alma mater Clark Atlanta (defensive line coach).
Â
Logan Kelleher joins the Keiser staff as the team's defensive assistant and special teams coach. Kelleher comes to Keiser after spending the 2023 season as defensive quality control at Eastern Kentucky. Before joining the EKU staff, Kelleher served as the cornerbacks coach and head strength coach for the University of Charleston football program. In 2021, Kelleher worked Mount Saint Joseph as the stars coach and special teams assistant. After the season, Kelleher was promoted to secondary coach. He also worked at Ohio Dominican and the University of Cincinnati.Â
Â
Russ also announced on Friday the retention of four members from the 2023 National Championship coaching staff.
Â
Myles Notkin was promoted to offensive coordinator.
Â
Notkin finished his second season as quarterbacks coach for the Seahawks this past year. The native of Cooper City, Florida, guided Keiser to back-to-back 2,000-yard passing seasons, including a school-record 2,899 in 2022. Prior to joining Keiser, Notkin worked at Florida Atlantic and Florida State.
Â
Also, returning to the Seahawks coach staff will be
Mickey O'Rourke,
Chris Ortiz, and Kordell Gueck.
Â
O'Rourke joined the Seahawks coaching staff in 2019 and has been the defensive backs coach since arriving at Keiser. In 2023, the Seahawks secondary set the school record for passes defended (91) while coaching the 2023 SUN Defensive Back of the Year.
Â
Ortiz completed his fourth year with Keiser in 2023, serving as wide receivers coach. Last season, the Seahawks produced 193 receptions (second-most in school history) with 2,477 yards receiving (No. 2 all-time at Keiser). Ortiz served three years as an assistant, starting as the defensive line coach in year one before moving to wide receivers coach (2018-2020). He has also worked at Florida Atlantic, Hawai'i, West Florida, Lafayette, Florida Tech, Houston, and Miami (Fla.).
Â
Gueck finished his first season with Keiser, serving as an offensive analyst in 2023. Moving into the role of football operations in 2024, Gueck served as an offensive quality control intern at Northern Colorado in 2022. A 2020 graduate of Colorado State, Gueck was a player personnel assistant for the Rams for two seasons.
